Most, if not all, of the people who buy physical copies are going to be collectors, and I think releasing a game like Earthbound on the virtual console is only going to increase interest in the game and thus interest in the carts.
If they just wanted to play the game, they'd just run the ROM on an emulator. Plus, I don't think the people who'd usually buy physical copies are going to be deterred by a virtual console release. I'm sure the price of Ocarina of Time on N64 went up when it was released on the 3DS. I'm excited for this on the off chance it affects the insanely overpriced physical copies.Ĭhance it'd increase the price, I'd say.
